Kayson's Promotion

Thursdays, May 29th Kayson had his Promotion and Awards Ceremony. When I left the house I had his Sunday best set out for him. He was told to look his best for this day and to where his church clothes. He was taking extra clothes to change into for the rest of school. When we arrived I couldn't find Kayson anywhere. The program was about to start, so I went looking for him. I found his class and began looking and there I saw Kayson, not in the white shirt that I was looking for, but a blue t-shirt and shorts. Most of the kids didn't dress up, but I wanted him to look his best. Needless to say, when I went up to him he knew what I was thinking. What a little cuss! Good thing I love him! :)

Kayson really doesn't like putting too much effort into school work, so I guess I am glad it comes easy for him. He received awards in Science and Math. Proud of you Kayson! He will now be moving into Middle School where the hard work begins. Make the most out of the Summer Kayson because 7:20am is early to start school. Sleep in while you can!

Memorial Day!

Ok...so it has been forever since I have posted. I have not had a spare moment to do so. So let's catch up.

Work has been so busy that there is not enough hours in the day. When I arrive home at 8:00 pm I am usually still not done, but it does wait until the next day. I spent the weekend working at the Chevron with my cousin Carol. Not enough workers so it was just her and I closing both Saturday and Sunday. We had some boys helping us on Saturday which was nice, but Sunday....I did get my exercise cleaning the store. I was hoping to get away for the Memorial Weekend, but plans fell through.

Sunday after church we went to the cemetery to put flowers on the grave of my Dad and Grandparents. Brian dropped me off at the Chevron on his way to visit his parents and families graves with Aunt Ruth and the kids. After working so hard on Saturday and Sunday I didn't do much on Monday.

Kayson graduates tomorrow from the 5th grade and will head off next year to Middle School. Shaylee graduated from pre-school last Thursday. Kayson is very excited to be done with school. They will be involved in the city "Fun in the Sun" program again this summer. Field trips, crafts, water games and much more. They are both excited. It keeps them busy anyway.

The weekend before Memorial Day we were able to get the flowers planted. (picture that Shaylee took) I still need to get some garden items done. We only got tomato plants planted. I am debating not doing a garden this year. I really don't have the time. We'll see. I am ready for a vacation. I am hoping after I get the City Celebration behind me I can take some time off. It's starting to warm up. I am ready for summer, camping, the lake and some great times.

Mothers Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends and family who are GREAT Mother's.

I had a great day. Kayson got up and cooked me scrambled eggs that he learned how to cook a few weeks ago on his first overnight scout camp. They were yummy! Shaylee brought me my gifts and cards. I have some great loving kids. They took care of me all day. I received lots of hugs and kisses from them. They make it worth being a Mother! My wonderful step-children (Marissa and Jason) called me and I received the sweetest message on my cell from Lorenzo and Claire (two of my grandchildren) wishing me a great Mother's Day! Kayson gave a talk at church. We then came home and cooked my Mother lunch and then that afternoon we took Uncle Max and Aunt Joyce to my nephews missionary homecoming. He just returned from Korea. It was a very busy day, but a nice one.

I am so grateful for my Mother and all she does for me. She has always been there for me. She is a great Grandmother to my kids and I love her dearly. Thanks Mom for all you do!

May 4th Update

Today was a great day! After Church we went over to my Brother Joe's house to celebrate his youngest daughters birthday. Rachel is turning 4 tomorrow, May 5th. She is the cutiest thing you have ever seen. We had a nice lunch, played a great game and enjoyed the company that was there. Thanks Joe and Amber. You are great hosts.

The game we played...can't remember the name of the game, but my cousin made it and my brother received it at our family Christmas party this past December. You take sticks and try to knock down the blocks across from you. Reminds me a bit of horseshoes, but much more fun. The kids had a blast with it and so did us big kids. It was a great game. Thanks Glenn for making such a fun game! I just need to get one for my family.

As for my new calling in church, they decided to give it to someone else. They wanted me to be a scout leader but another lady decided to accept it so they gave me the option of that or stay in Primary. I told them to go ahead and let her have that. Primary is good with me. My weeknights are so busy I would hate to take the calling and not be able to put in the time it needs for the boys. As for Brian, he is the new 11 year old Boy Scout leader. That is Kayson's group and I think that will be fun for the both of them. Sorry Julie, no couple missionaries here. Whew! :) It's all good!

Happy May 1st! or is it May?

Happy May 1st 2008! This year Mother Nature really showed my family how unpredictable the weather can be in Cache Valley. Yes, we woke up to snow this morning. Kayson grumbled and so did I. We want warmer weather! We did have 75 degree weather this past week. Kayson pulled out the shorts for school. He was loving it....UNTIL May 1st. Kayson is going on his first overnight scout camp and they have cancelled it because of the snow storms we have received the past couple of weeks. He thought for sure that it would get cancelled again. They have not yet done so (even though the weather said another storm on Sat.). The snow did melt by 12:30 p.m. and there are clear skies this morning.

I have slacked on the blogging a bit. Work has kept me really busy even most nights and weekends. I do think I actually have this Saturday off! Yeah! No baseball meetings or snack stand orientation. My kids will be happy! As for new things that have happened, a week after Shaylee lost her 1st tooth she lost her second. Kayson lost a tooth last night too. Funny how life brings two totally different stages together. Shaylee was funny when trying to tell her brother how it wouldn't hurt and she would hold his hand. He usually pulls his own teeth at this age, but this one was just hanging by who knows what and he couldn't get it out. I pulled it with my fingers and it came right out. He said it hurt and at the moment hated me for doing it, but later was happy it was out.

May 1st Shaylee got to dress up like a COWGIRL for school. We just had to go get a hat and boots. The skirt and jacket we from the D.I. (thank heaven for cheap), the hat and boots from WalMart. She looked adorable! When we bought the hat she wore it all around WalMart yelling "yee haa". She said she had to practice. If Kayson would have been there he would have been so embarrassed. I just laughed. Nothing embarrasses her. She would actually take the hat off when saying "yee haa". She was a hoot! She hasn't quit wearing the boots. She even wore them to dance last night. Yes, leotard, tights, sweater and the boots. She is quite the dresser.

Besides work and the kids nothing more has been happening. They both consume my life. Oh and I may be getting a new calling at church. A member of the Bishopric lives in front of me and when coming home the other day he asked when Brian and I would be home together. I told him good luck with that. He said he had a calling to present us with. I can help but wonder. I would miss teaching those cute Primary kids. Hummm...we will have to wait and see. I will let you know.
